Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Birmingham, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across Michigan run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 11:30 am–11 pm. Birmingham is in Michigan, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Birmingham follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Fantastic new kid on the block on Birmingham! Space is fun and energetic, service is spot on - and the dishes are all extremely well executed. Started with the Shishito peppers and chicken Negimaki - and then had a Midnight roll and a few pieces of nigiri. All were spot on and put together incredibly well. Topped off with a bottle of sake (great selection) - and it was a perfect night. Best dish? Loved the peppers and would go long on the yakitori next time… Everyone should make this spot their new next best friend!

If you can’t make it to Tokyo, this is probably the next best thing. Absolutely loved this place! Everything was incredibly fresh, especially the sushi and sashimi. The fish was high quality, beautifully presented, and every bite tasted amazing.

Visited on a Sunday lunch. Two of us ordered an okonomi-yaki, negima yaki, momo yaki, and a karai miso ramen. They were all very well made. okonomi-yaki was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The two orders of chicken yaki were short on the portion (just as in Japan, LOL) but the meat was tender and the sauce was tasty. The ramen noodle was very well made and cooked. Overall, the portion is on the smaller side, but we left without a thought of hunger. About the ambience, they play 80s Japanese songs. I would visit this restaurant again.

Came here to celebrate my friends birthday for lunch and we loved it! It was both our first time here. They have a great menu with a ton of options. I really liked their lunch specials they had. We both ordered off the lunch menu for one dish and it came with 2 handrolls, 3 nigiri, 3 sashimi, 2 gyoza, and miso soup. It was a great combo and the perfect amount. I will definitely be back just for the lunch special. We also ordered two sushi rolls: sokai roll and the keywest roll. Both were delicious and the fish was so fresh! The quality was really great and I eat a ton of sushi so I can definitely notice the quality. They don’t have much cocktails, but they did have one called pink lady. I really enjoyed it and would get it again. Hoping they come out with a cocktail menu with Asian inspired flavors! I would definitely recommend this place, the quality of food is great and we had great customer service. Very attentive and we ordered the sushi roll recommendations our waiter told us. My friend and I will be back :)

The newest sushi outpost by Mr. Lee who also owns Sushi Hana. The name of the restaurant means β€œmeeting of the heart” in Japanese, but impossible to pronounce, spell or remember. Located in a previous sushi joint across the street from the Birmingham Theater, the restaurant is very intimate with 13 tables and four booths. Tables are tightly spaced and noise is so loud, I wonder how the servers take orders. There is one sushi bar and cocktail bar with a dozen seats. Four sushi chefs very busy. Just opened, very busy at 6:00pm on a Friday night. No reservations and online ordering not yet available. I did a carry out, menu extensive and expensive. Fresh sashimi was excellent along with noodle dish and spicy tuna rolls. Not a fan of the 5pc rolls as they are bigger and the flavor is a bit different. They use Sushi Hana take out containers, very nice. Overall, a much needed addition to the Birmingham dining scene and sushi is very fresh. They need to work on the noise level and get rid of the annoying packets of soy sauce, just use Solo containers.
